Ecommerce Revamp for Signature Motorsports

Signature Motorsports sells aftermarket car parts and accessories including engines, racing suspensions, high performance exhausts, brakes, etc., with nearly 100,000 SKUs. The goal was to revamp the BigCommerce instance to improve support and sales:
– Installing a new payment processor (Authorize.Net)
– A new sitewide SEO strategy
– Automating product inventory management and vendor product data
– Updates to product fulfillment process
– Automating product descriptions and improving item specific SEO (ChatGPT)

Subscription Based In-App Local Tax Collection

I entered this project with the firm having spent nearly 2 years attempting to complete this project. The types of delays being encountered ranged from legal to technical. Part of the challenge was the subscription billing system was built inhouse so everything needed to be custom. I restarted the project from scratch (after identifying a few pieces of previously developed code that could be saved) with new timelines, project resource requests including developers and QA, and documentation. Using Avalara, I finished the project in 6 months and provide $2.2 million in annual expense savings.

Implementing Agile for Business Intelligence

This project involved implementing agile methodologies to a business intelligence department that had never used agile before. They were using Jira for ticket tracking but on one big Kanban board with hundreds of outdated and irrelevant tickets mixed in with business critical tickets. My duties included:
– Sorting through and reorganizing tickets into a two week sprint cadence
– Coaching the team on agile methodologies
– Weekly meetings with the department head
– Creating new policies and procedures

Bug Tracking for a Digital Agency

A digital agency was having trouble managing bug requests from a major client. The agency was using Jira and the client was using Zendesk and there was no way for either to quickly view prioritization and see the status of each request. A tracker was created within Google Workspace that had the Zendesk request matched up with Jira tickets and showed the client all the details they needed to see including status (which was mapped to Jira status to be in plain English), who was responsible, and expected completion dates. Additionally, reporting was added to provide even better oversight.

Process and Responsibility Documentation in a Digital Agency

The delivery department at a digital agency were struggling to solve and manage problems independently and a significant amount of miscommunication what happening. Consistency was needed and over time if there were any changes in expectations, there would be one single source of truth for department operations. I created a series of Google Docs that covered roles and responsibilities, meetings and agendas, communication templates, and documentation on how to use custom built tools, reports, and tracking systems. Included was an outline workflows and deliverables by job title.

Financial AdvisorTech Directory

Oversaw development of the first MVP of Kitces’ Financial AdvisorTech Directory. This interactive directory allowed financial advisors to create a tech stack for their firm which included everything from CRMs to portfolio management, to marketing, and investment analytics. The system would then give feedback on recommendations, tools that overlap, or areas of services that have gaps. Additionally, the platform provided recommendations for different types of firms such as if your firm was a startup, running it alone, or you had multiple advisors.
