About Me

My Story

I grew up on a small farm in north-east Ohio. We raised dairy goats and grew spelt and hay. By middle school I took my dairy goats to competitions and had awards for dairy and showmanship. I had also learned how to drive a combine harvester by that point. High school was filled with debate competitions and community projects (no sports for this nerd). However, I have always had a love for technology and entrepreneurism.

I started my first business when I was 8 years old, raising chickens and selling the farm fresh eggs to family and friends. I started to write code when I was 13 years. By age 19 I have registered my first LLC building websites. The following year, I had a business with employees and contractors.

I majored in business management with minors in information systems and political science at Miami University. While in college, I spent a semester at the Chinese University of Hong Kong studying Chinese business and politics.

After college, I spent the next 5 years building up my web consultancy working on projects all over the country from simple web campaigns to full fledge software development. I got to work with some wonderful small businesses and some exciting large clients such as the JM Smucker Co. and The Ohio State University (we did so much work for OSU that our offices were located at one of their campuses. I then sold the company to an employee and joined a client’s startup.

From that point on, I spent a lot of time startups building out various products, departments, and policies as the companies grew. Today, I spend most of my professional life getting to work with all kinds of different businesses, tacking interesting and challenging problems, and implementing solutions that have a lasting impact.

I still live in north-east Ohio. I live with my wife, Olivia, and two daughters on a small plot of land in the county. We have a small group of chickens that lay fresh eggs.

I have stayed involved in community service and have sat on numerous boards and committees including the local Rotary club, the county humane society, and The Village Network, a major youth behavioral health organization.

My free time involves tinkering with new technology, a bit of farm work, and the occasional Minecraft game with my daughters. I am an avid reader of history, physics, and good old fashion science-fiction. One of my biggest hobbies is traveling the world with my wife which has taken us places like Morocco, Czech Republic, Quebec, Ethiopia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Botswana, Germany, Zambia, and many more places all over the world.
